Turkish Army received 32 used AH-1P/S Cobras which were powered by a 1,800 shp (1,300 kW) T53-L-703 turboshaft engine and have many new features like composite rotors, flat plate canopy which did not feature armor glass, and iupdated instrument panel for NOE flight; a radar altimeter and improved radios; an AN/APR-39 radar warning receiver.

Turkish Army upgraded its fleet of AH-1P/S to AH-1F standard. Upgrade included new fire-control system with a laser rangefinder, secure voice communications and a new computer,Improved M136 HSS, a head-up display, night-vision goggle (NVG) compatible cockpit lighting, infrared jammer mounted above the engine exhaust, and an infrared suppressing engine exhaust system.

 Now Turkish Army operates around 23 AH-1 Cobras which will be replaced by the TAI/AgustaWestland T-129 attack helicopter currently under development for the Turkish Army.
